Is it really November already?

It's hard to have a good sense of time when you live somewhere that the seasons don't really change. Anyway, November is important, because I told myself (and my admissions counsellor) that I would be submitting my portfolio and al of the documents for my application in early November. Well, that time is finally here, and I'm sitting around finishing up what will be my final portfolio piece. When I applied to Ringling almost a year ago, I submitted 16 works. Now, several new pieces later, I think I will be submitting 11 or 12. I think trimming a bit of fat is going to be important to the impression that my portfolio gives. I still need to do some work photoshopping some of my older works, but generally speaking, things are just about there. I still need to write up a statement of intent, but I'm not particularly worried about that. I've been pretty concerned lately with how this is all going to go. At times, I still wonder if this is the right next step for me, but I think I've just been in a slump lately about not being motivated to do much of anything. I know if I don't change something, and very soon, I'm just going to continue to get more cynical, bitter, and apathetic. I know I need to be back in school, or at least in a new place, pursuing genuine interests.

So that's that. Just a smaller post for today, I suppose. As an added bonus, here is a picture of the drawing I am currently working. It's a webcam photo, so don't expect much until it's finished and I get to take a good digital or a scan, but it will work. His name is Ryan, and he is terrorizing me.

  1. YAY!! I like the picture.

I hope you post your work soon. Seriously, I'm totally curious to see what you've got.

You totally need to be back in school, at least for a change of pace. Plus, you'll meet so many cool people AND you'll learn something too. :D
