Happy Thanksgiving!

So I usually don't really celebrate holidays. There isn't much to do for Thanksgiving since we don't have any family nearby to go visit, I never really celebrate Christmas either since it seems a bit hypocritical to buy into the whole fervour of the season. I suppose I'll mix things up a bit and try mustering up a bit of holiday spirit. A little positivity couldn't hurt, I suppose. I usually cook about half of whatever gets made for Thanksgiving, but this year should be interesting since it will be my first Thanksgiving as a vegetarian. Anyway, I've planned to make Belgian waffles with a strawberry apple glaze for breakfast, and for dinner I'll be making dinner rolls from scratch, baked mac and cheese, mashed and scalloped potatoes, and mayyyyyyyybe a strawberry shortcake. My sister and dad can figure out the rest, haha. What are YOU guys making/having tomorrow?

Moving on, I've decided to start writing about things besides the (usually) boring events of daily life. I'll begin with this!

I pre-ordered these shoes about a month ago. They look incredibly comfortable for some reason, and I'm really overdue for a new pair of slip-ons. They're basically really sweet, and designed by Avey Tare of Animal Collective, and best of all, the proceeds to go benefit a wildlife conservation fund, They also come with a cassette of unreleased material by Animal Collective (which I won't be able to listen to, because honestly, who still owns a cassette player?). The only problem is that they don't actually ship out until March! I guess I'll have to get a different pair to hold me over until then.

I also got a couple of CD's and stuff in the mail this week! I'm pretty sure I enjoy getting things in the mail entirely too much. Anyway, I got British Sea Power's new(ish) Zeus EP, and The 1900's Return of the Century.  I actually came across The 1900's because they opened for British Sea Power a few years ago and I was really impressed, haha. Anyway, Here's the goodies I got.

All the way from England!
I got a set of circular pins, the EP, a mug that reads "British Tea Power" and on the bottom "Bonfire Night Every Night", and a pin of a battle rife (pretty sure it's based on the Lee Enfield Mk III rifle) with a shovel as the bayonet! Think about it.

Pins!
My pin collection has grown quite a bit since I first began collecting them. I curently have 10 attached to the shoulder strap of my bag. They tend to stay on there pretty well, but I swear I lose one every single time I fly. I used to have ones for Neutral Milk Hotel, Death From Above 1979, Arctic Monkeys, and probably a few others I don't remember. I will have to find a home for all of the currently loose ones!

  1. Idea: When you come to visit, we"ll have a bonfire.
Anyway, I'm super jealous of your shoes AND your Thanksgiving!
    P.S. I like your pins.

  2. Yes! That sounds, great, I haven't had a good bonfire in months.

And thanks! I have an extra pin from the Local Natives show (they gave me two) if you'd like it?
