For serious, but I suppose I'll have to suck it up and get all of that rubbish dealt with in the next week or two. The good news is I think I found an apartment near school, which will potentially save me a bunch of money over having to pay for student housing and having to buy a meal plan. The bad news, is I'm not positive if I can use any federal or private loans to cover rent. I think I can, but I'll have to call the school on Monday to figure that out.
On a more current note, I need to find a decent summer job, I haven't really got my hopes up for anything too decent, but hopefully Target or somewhere nearby will be hiring. Some really excellent album releases have begun trickling in as well, starting with The National's High Violet and Circa Survive's Blue Sky Noise, and LCD Soundsystem's new album comes out in a few days. I still need to pick up a copy of Jonsi's solo album, but there aren't too many good music stores nearby, and I'm too lazy to just buy it online, as illogical as that might sound. There's more good stuff on the way from Band of Horses and Tokyo Police Club, as well as a couple of decent concerts in June as well. I used to think there were never any good concerts in Houston, but it just turns out I wasn't looking quite hard enough.
On a final note, I started drawing again for the first time in like 3 months... pretty sad for a prospective art student, but sometimes I get bogged down with doing a lot of nothing. It feels good committing some stuff to paper again, and I plan to make this more of a consistent exercise in my last few months here. I won't survive a week at Ringling being as lazy with drawings as I have been lately, haha.
YOURE GOING TO TOKYO POLICE CLUB IN HOUSTON?!?!?!? ME TOO!!! AWESOME. Seriously, that's crazy. Great music choices by the way. You should probably go to Summerfest this year, it was freakin awesome last year, and I think we might be going again. Anywho, I hate financial aid. That's exactly why I'm not going to school. Apparently being a smart white girl with good grades and super extra curriculars just doesn't cut it in college. Maybe I'm just too average on paper? Post pictures of your art! I'd like to see it. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I am, I'm not entirely positive yet. I mentioned it to a friend of mine, and she said she saw Passion Pit before and wasn't very impressed by them live? I'm still kind of on the fence about the show right now. As for Summerfest, I have been thinking about it, but I'm not too familiar with most of the bands that will be playing there... Last.FM keeps recommending it to me though, haha. I'm kind of on the fence about it since I'm a bit strapped for cash and my laptop just broke :(
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks that you got screwed out of financial aid, it's actually the whole reason I've had to put school off for so long...
Anyway, I will gladly post some of my artwork when I get a chance! Like I said though, my laptop just died so it might be a bit before I can get around to it. Sorry!
OKAY, listen, I need/hope you get this fast. I bought 2 tickets to summerfest, and my brother's graduating this weekend so now I can't attend. I can mail you the tickets if you want! Totally free, you don't even have to pay me! I know that sounds really freaking creepy and weird but hey! we like the same music, and I think you'll really like summerfest. I'll even send you a copy of the lineup with the bands I wanted to see on it!
ReplyDeleteLet's be friends on last.fm...or are we already and this is how you found my blog? Hmm...enteringeden is my lastfm name. Look me up!
