Now that that is decided.

So having been accepted at Ringling, and having decided on a major, I decided to head out to Sarasota for Accepted Student Day at Ringling, in order to make sure everything about the school would be a good fit for me. As with any college, the coursework can only be a part of your decision to attend, so I wanted to make sure everything factored in well for me. After having spent so much time in the mundanity of Northwest Houston's urban sprawl, I found myself impressed by anything and everything in Sarasota. Ringling is one of a handful of art colleges that is able to maintain a true campus setting. There's tons of buildings of galleries, computer labs, film studios, design centres, and (relatively) spacious student dorms. The faculty were experienced and insightful, the staff were courteous and welcoming, and the students were benevolent and passionate. It didn't take long for me to realize that this is exactly the sea change I need, to place enveloped by the creative energy of people who have a genuine interest in leaving a mark on their trade.

  1. Congrats on getting accepted! That's really exciting! However, before you move to Florida you need to take a little trip to Austin to see all of the fun that it has to offer! I know I sound biased because I'm moving there but it is a ton of fun! It's always exciting and interesting. :)

  2. Haha I actually almost went like 2 weekends ago, but something came up so I wasn't able to. I think Austin is the only city in Texas I could ever bother with, but at least I found a decent spot in Houston (Montrose) to keep me sane until I get out of here. I'll definitely try and make a trip or two out to Austin before I leave here though.
