Tonight is a particularly unfortunate evening to be so well aware of one's shortcomings.

February.
So, it's been a couple of weeks since I last updated. As you can guess, a lot has gone on since then! I only have a really short class tomorrow and then I'll be finished up with week 3 of classes! I have generally gotten into a pretty good flow with getting to class and having homework done with one tiny exception. Physics. Physics is seriously a dick in my ass right now. It doesn't help that I haven't had to take a math course in 4 years. Yikes.
Anyway, Columbus is great. Sure, the weather has been awful lately, but I've still been trekking out to see parts of Columbus that I hadn't gotten a chance to see in the past when visiting friends! Speaking of friends, people here are (generally) pretty awesome. It's been really nice meeting new people, particularly ones that are like minded to myself. I'm going to head out and grab me some food, but I'm going to include a few pictures of recent shenanigans! I hope everyone has had a good week, and is enjoying the freezing weather.

Dorm!
So dorms generally kind of suck. This is kind of a general assumption you can make, yes? Now let me say I wanted to get an apartment here in Columbus, but there was just not enough time to look into places and figure out if it's close enough to commute to/from school (especially since it's winter), get a lease signed, and look into getting a roommate, so I've put off the apartment just until next semester. In the meantime, I've been put in one of the two dorm buildings that Columbus College of Art and Design offers its students. It's called Schottenstein Residence hall, and having seen the dorms of friends going to Kent State, Bowling Green, and Ohio University, I'd say this place isn't all that bad. The only thing I kind of mind is not having our own kitchen since I like to cook and try to keep myself on a reasonably healthy diet of homemade food. This will have to do for now though. Here is the room!

That's about it for now! There's another dorm called the Design Square Apartments that are really really nice compared to these, but they get filled up quickly. That's what I get for doing everything so last minute! I'll have to take a couple of photos of one of the dorms over there so you guys can see how pampered the kids over there are!

Columbus.
So I'm finally out in Columbus! I got here on Sunday. I've gotten to spend some time at bars with friends, and I also walked to my school to turn in some paperwork and then walk around downtown for a bit. Back when I lived in Pittsburgh, I used to love wandering around downtown and finding interesting music stores or restaurants or whatever, and I think Columbus is going to have even more of that. There's a record store not far from here that I've been to a couple of times in the past, and I plan on going this week to buy a couple of buttons and British Sea Power's new record! I wanted to walk there to buy it today, but I've been kind of sick so I don't really feel like going out anywhere. I've mostly just been lazying about all day. Hopefully I'll be better by tomorrow or Friday at the latest, because some friends are coming to visit from Cleveland!
I've got pretty much all of my school stuff figured out, and will be moving in to my dorm tomorrow morning. It's going to be weird living in a small dorm again, and not having a kitchen and all that, but I just didn't feel like I had the time or familiarity with the area to get myself an apartment this semester, so this dorm will have to do! It shouldn't be too bad, and the good thing is I'll be right where all of my classes are going to be, so I won't have to worry about trekking around in the freezing cold too much. Since there's no kitchen in my dorm, I'll be on a meal plan for the first time. I hope they have halfway decent vegetarian stuff available! I will post some pictures of the dorm and whatnot when I get a chance later.

Stranded in Atlanta.
So I suppose I've got a bit of updating to do. I decided a few days ago that I'm going to get myself back to college this semester. It seemed a bit impulsive at the time, but really, postponing college plans and staying at home (accomplishing nothing) would have been the truly impulsive change of plans. So yeah. I'm running off to college for the second time, hoping for much better results this time. I am currently on my way back up to Ohio, but stuck in Georgia for the time being. My flight from Houston to Atlanta was delayed 3 hours because of a really bad storm that passed through earlier today, and so I missed my connecting flight from Atlanta to Akron. Of course, the next one isn't until 8:50. I have 7 more hours of sitting around in the airport being a loser on my laptop. I wish I could sleep. I figured if I had a flight get delayed, it would be because of a snowstorm up north somewhere, but having it get delayed by a storm in Houston was one last "fuck you" to me, I guess.
Anyway, yeah that's pretty big news right there! I might get a little bad at posting updates in the coming weeks, I apologize in advance. I can really only imagine how hectic it's going to be. If I don't find the time to post a little something tomorrow, I hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve/Day celebration, and gets the new year started on the right foot.

Merry Christmas, errbody..
So Christmas has finally come and gone. I really hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, I know I had a pretty good one. This year I was inspired by a few people to summon up a little holiday cheer and try to make this Christmas special, since no one else really takes the effort to do so anymore (except for my sisters). I started by heading to work on Christmas Eve wearing this!
It was a little slower at work than we expected, so I asked if I might be able to leave a bit early to get home and cook some stuff for dinner. My manager said it'd be allright if I left an hour or two early. At around 4:30, I managed to sell a Versace watch (no small chunk of change), so right after the customer left the store, I said "I just sold a Versace watch, so I'm out, bitches". (I've been saying that a lot, eh Sara?) Anyway, I got home and made some holiday coloured chocolate chip cookies! I ran out of red food dye, but they came out okay anyway. I also bought a nice bottle of wine (Gewurztraminer) and a six pack of Leinenkuglel beers!
Afterwards, we headed over to my sister's house for dinner and to exchange presents! I spent excessive amounts of time, money, and thought picking out everyone's gifts, but I still think it went pretty well. I got my dad a really nice TX watch for dressing up, and a more casual Nautica watch for work or everyday use. I got my mom a classier watch with some diamonds in it. I didn't want to be the guy that just bought everyone shit form the place he works, so I made sure to stop myself there! I got my older sister some ceramic cookware, since she moved out recently, and had been needing some for her new apartment. My little nephew got some Pokemon toys (I made sure the Pokemon were ones I recognized, instead of some of the weird newer ones, I don't play that shit), got my sister's boyfriend a flannel button up shirt, and got my other sister a Victoria's secret gift card. She is suuuuuper picky with things, so I figured I'd make sure she has a bit of money for when their semi-annual sale rolls around (yeah, I'm in the know). I made up for the lack of a real gift by wrapping it SUPER NICE. JUST LOOK.
So, yeah. I think that turned out pretty well. Last but not least, I got my ex-girlfriend (and still really good friend) Kim back in Cleveland this vintage French pillow. She really loves everything French, and has been there twice now, so I thought this would be a good gift for her. Best of all, I bought it handmade from an Etsy store, which is always cool. It was my second Etsy purchase!
And finally, here's some stuff I got! My mom and dad got me some cologne. My sister and her boyfriend got me a dress shirt and tie, and some really nice pineapple tea from Teavana. I made some earlier today, and I can guarantee it is DELICIOUS.
So a pretty good turnout, I must say. How about you guys? How did your family get togethers go? Did you get some pretty nice gifts? I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, I know I did!
